Ministries

Christ Lutheran Church is blessed to have many ministries that help both the church and also serve our local community and beyond.

David Gregory School
The campus of Christ Lutheran Church is home to David Gregory School (DGS). The school was founded in 1993 by two life-long educators, Carolyn Hancock and Marie Lupinski, who were driven by their dedication and passion for helping children with developmental disabilities. It is a full-day, 11½ month program that provides a customized educational program to children with autism, pervasive developmental disorder, and developmental disabilities.

For more information, visit the school's website at www.davidgregoryschool.com
or call their office at 201.967.9772

The Hackensack River Canoe and Kayak Club

Christ Lutheran Church is pleased to offer our Family Room space as a meeting place for The Hackensack River Canoe and Kayak Club. The Club was incorporated in 1985 and founded by a handful of paddlers to promote the conservation of the Hackensack River and Meadowlands through paddling. It encourages canoeing and kayaking with a positive social experience while fostering a spirit of respect and conservation toward our rivers and lakes.

Corinne's Cupboard
Weekend Snack Pack Program in partnership with Bergen County Center for Food Action

During Lent each year, we collect food items for the Snack Pack Program started by Corinne Sakala years ago. Many Bergen County school children who receive free or reduced-priced school meals are left without adequate nutrition on the weekends and during holiday breaks. This program helps to fill this void by providing healthy, kid-friendly foods to these children. The snack packs are discreetly given to these kids by the classroom teacher on Friday afternoons or before school breaks.

We collect the following food items:

Nutri-Grain Snack Bars – 1.3 oz. (no chocolate or nuts)

          2% Milk Boxes - 8 oz., non-flavored, shelf stable

Chef Boyardee Microwavable Bowls – 7.5 oz.

          100% Juice Boxes – 6.75 oz.

Cold Cereal Boxes – 1 oz. individual serving size

          Macaroni & Cheese – 7.25 oz. boxes

At the end of Lent, we assemble the items in bags and give them to the Center For Food Action who then delivers them to the Bergen County schools in the program.

If you'd like to help with this effort, please bring items to Church or to the Church Office. If you'd like to make a monetary donation, please put it in our Sunday offering plate or send a check to the Church Office (made out to Christ Lutheran Church and labeled for Corinne's Cupboard). We will use the money to buy items to complete the packs.

If you have any questions, please see Anne Carman, Jan Behnke or contact the Church Office. Thanks for your help!
